DEAD WORM WALKING, BY DSM SPINE & SPORT
(*SEE VIDEO EXPLANATION AND GENERAL FLOOR FORMAT AT BOTTOM)
FORMAT
For Time (cap: 11 minutes)
*Athletes will start at opposite ends of the competition floor working their way to the other side, meeting in the middle to complete one movement together, then parting ways again. (Athlete 1 will begin at the top of the list working their way down, stopping at the worm lunge-sters - Athlete 2 will begin at the bottom of the list working their way up, also stopping at the worm lunge-ster which are completed together.)
30 wallballs
rope climbs
hand-walking
30/22 row
10 synchro lunge-sters (lunge + thruster)
30/22 row
hand-walking
20 box jumps
30 axle bar sumo deadlift high-pulls
Details: 3, 2, 1…athletes 1 (doesn’t matter who it is) begins at the wallballs on one end of the floor working their way down the movement list until they get to the lunge-sters, where they meet their partner. Simultaneously, athlete 2 begins at the sumo deadlift high-pulls at the opposite end of the floor. If one athlete gets to the worm before the other, they must wait. Worm lunge-sters are done together, then athletes part ways continuing to opposite end of the floor from where they began. Both athletes will receive a score, which is time. If an athlete gets capped, a second is added to the cap time for each rep not completed.

STANDARDS
wallballs: rep begins with ball in hands and athlete descending to squat to show hip crease below knee crease (you are allowed to squat clean to start first rep), rep is complete when athlete ascends and throws wallball to the front (NOT bottom edge) of target (roughly 9-9.5ft)
men legless rope climb: male athletes may NOT jump - rep begins with feet on floor and hands on rope - athletes may then being pulling and ascend - rep is complete when athlete touches crossbar at top AND descends in full control - FEET MUST TOUCH FLOOR BEFORE LETTING GO (aka, NO JUMPING DOWN - athletes MAY use feet during descent)
women legless rope climb: female athletes MAY jump - rep begins when athlete begins pulling to ascend - rep is complete when athlete touches crossbar at top AND descends in full control - FEET MUST TOUCH FLOOR BEFORE LETTING GO (aka, NO JUMPING DOWN - athletes MAY use feet during descent)
intermediate rope climb: athlete may jump - rep begins when athlete ascends (men will touch crossbar at the top, women will touch the top of the rope fixture which is slightly lower) - rep is complete when athlete descends in full control - FEET MUST TOUCH FLOOR BEFORE LETTING GO (aka, NO JUMPING DOWN)
novice ground-to-stand rope climb: athletes begin rep flat on back WITH ROPE COMPLETELY VERTICAL (no angle - we don’t care where the feet are placed but shoulders must be directly under the rope), athlete ascends to a full stand (knees and hips extended), then descends down, controlled, back to start position to finish rep
rx hand-walking: athletes begin with feet behind line and kick up to handstand, walking their way through the given obstacle without disrupting (knocking PVC pipe down) or falling (must be unbroken - roughly 25 ft with a single obstacle) - rep is complete when athletes HANDS pass the finish line
intermediate hand-walking: athletes begin with feet behind the line and kick up to handstand, walking their way down the roughly 25 ft lane - intermediate athletes may kick up as many times as it takes, BUT, hands must resume where they left off (ex: if you fall forward, you’ll have to step back to where the judges hold their foot and place hands there to resume) - this does NOT have to be great hand-walking to even a couple steps at a time is fine.
bear crawl: athlete must start with HANDS behind start line - with hips and shoulders facing forward athlete will bear crawl using all 4 limps until both hands AND feet pass finish line
row: athletes rowers will be set to 0, athletes will be responsible for their own damper - athlete may NOT put hands on handle until feet are under straps and may not get off rower until the counter hits the required calorie count
lunge-ster (lunge + thruster): rep begins with both athletes cleaning worm to the same shoulder - athletes will lunge in place (stepping forward and synchronizing knees both touching the ground), coming to a full stand, then descending into a squat (shoulder crease below top of knee), ending with a thrust overhead to the other shoulder to finish rep - - for the lunge, judges will not pay attention to which legs are used or if they are alternating, only that both athletes use the same leg - for the thruster if one athlete gets it to the other shoulder and the other athlete does not, you can wait until your teammate completes the movement to count the rep (if you drop it to reset it’s a no-rep)
over box jump: rep begins with athlete facing square edge of box and jumping to the top of box with both feet simultaneously touching, then jumping or stepping to the other side for rep completion (we don’t care about hip extension, only about both feet on the top together)
box step-overs: rep begins with athlete facing square edge of box and stepping to the top of the box - both feet must be in contact with the top of the box simultaneously and hands may NOT be used - rep is complete with athlete jumps or steps down to the other side
axle bar sumo deadlift high-pulls: rep begins with athletes hands inside stance, pulling all the way to sternum/armpits, simultaneously showing full knee and hip extension (if you pull appropriately but do NOT open your hips or knees, no rep!)
SCORING
This is worth 2 full events. Score 1 is athlete 1’s time. Score 2 is athlete 2’s time (if you cap out we add .01 of a second for every rep not completed - each cal is worth 1 rep, and the hand-walks are each worth one rep).
