2017 Event Announcement – The Firebreather by Boxstar Apparel

Events will be announced in no particular order.  Live video from Facebook included, and detailed description for each division below.

The Firebreather

Details

  • 23 minute time cap
  • Each individual will complete 2 rounds, for 2 times (one for each full round completed).
  • At “3, 2, 1, GO,” the first athlete begins on the Assault Bike.  Athletes can go in any order.  After the first athlete completes their specified calories (women do 18 calories and men do 25 calories), they move to the sled and pull 90 feet to the rig on the far end of the lane.  Athlete then begins rig movement/kettlebell swings.  Once athlete has begun movement at the rig, the second athlete can begin their calories on the assault bike calories (this applies to the entire workout – once the athlete in front of you starts on their “rig movement” you can start on the bike – once they return with the sled you can take off…it’s all about timing).  After completion of the “rig movement” athlete will pull the sled another 90 feet back to complete a round and let the next athlete begin their first sled pull.  (Please note that weights are not listed for sled pulls because we want to test on the concrete floor before deciding.)  For teams who cap out, you’ll have 1 second added for each rep not completed.

Standards

  • assault bike: athlete is responsible for making sure bike is on and set to zero calories before beginning – athletes may not get on bike until judge has given them the go-ahead
  • sled pull: athletes will start sled pulls behind the specified lines, pull across the floor, then once feet pass the finish line athletes will “reel” in the sled the rest of the way until it passes the line (this will be shown at the Friday standards meeting, 6-7pm)
  • kettle bell swings: rep begins with kettle bell between legs, and is complete when BOTTOM of the kettle bell is facing directly up, with full extension of knees, hips, and elbows (body and kettle bell should form a single vertical line) – IF ATHLETES DROP KETTLEBELL, LAST REP WILL NOT BE COUNTED AND HAVE TO BE REDONE
  • bar muscle-ups: we will not be strict on these…no standards for kip – rep begins in hanging position with feet behind vertical plane, and rep is completed when athlete ascends above bar and shows full extension of arms
  • pull-ups: rep begins in hanging position with feet behind vertical plane – rep is complete when athlete’s chin passes above horizontal plane of bar (butterfly, kipping or strict are all permitted)
  • ring muscle-ups: rep begins in hanging position with feet behind vertical plane – rep is complete when athlete catches in dip position and ascends showing full extension of arms.  Shoulders should be directly above rings vertically at lock out.  Pressing yourself backwards and locking out on your way back will NOT be permitted.
  • chest-to-bar: rep beings in hanging position with feet behind vertical plane – rep is complete when athlete’s chest makes contact with bar (butterfly, kipping or strict are all permitted)
